Executing Creativity

With the start of the New Year came along the start of many new and existing projects. Some solo and some I am lucky enough to have **awesome** partners/friends to work with.

I was feeling slightly overwhelmed earlier with all my to-do-lists, so, in my true procrastination fashion I stopped working and started reading my feeds.

Seth Godin’s blog, one of my favorites, has a post that really resonated with me and how I have been feeling.

” 99% of the time, in my experience, the hard part about creativity isn’t coming up with something no one has ever thought of before. The hard part is actually executing the thing you’ve thought of.

The devil doesn’t need an advocate. The brave need supporters, not critics. “

I couldn’t have said it better myself. New ideas and being creativity I find rather easy - but I lack in the execution…

Lessons in Business

I made a little blunder today and really it was a simple lesson that most learn early on - never “Assume.” I have a client I have been working with for the past month or two. Recently said client asked me a question and I replied with “Yes, Sir!”

Well come to find out - the Sir is a Maam! That is what I get for assuming! She was nice about it thankfully but I did feel a little silly and of course apologized. You know what they say about assuming…

Deadlines

I have sooooo much work to finish this weekend - 2 projects and my own projects!!

I am going out of town to visit my bestest friend SugarRae on Tuesday. I’m going to try and squeeze an interview out of her over dinner but don’t hold me to it - Depends on how drunk I get her ;)

I think I am going to pack up and work at the book store so I can get some peace and quiet from the Man, the kids and the dog!

Domain Clean Up

I finally went through my domain names and cancelled the ones I will never use and renewed the ones that were ready to expire. There were a few that really made me ask myself what I was even thinking when I bought the domain to begin with! Too much late night working maybe ;)

Now I have a tidy little list of domain names to work with. I have a short list of names that I still want to buy but I am waiting to use the ones I have first. I am fond of NameCheap these days, for years I was a GoDaddy girl but not anymore. Slowly I plan to transfer all my domains to NameCheap which is yet another thing on my five mile to-do-list.
